Anxiety, loss, exhaustion, fear, inner emptiness—often these feelings defy simple expression. This is especially true for young people and those who have experienced trauma, forced displacement, war, or prolonged stress. And it is precisely in these moments that art can become a space where a person is not obligated to explain everything rationally, but can begin to feel, process, and heal.
The idea behind ART4MENTAL was born from a simple yet powerful observation: art can provide support. It can be a way to talk about complex issues without naming them directly. Through color, image, sound, movement, form, or a visual story, a person gains the opportunity to express what has built up inside and gradually regain a sense of safety, control, and connection with oneself.
We realized that art is not just about beauty. It is also about care. About connection. About inner strength. About healing where ordinary words sometimes fall short. At the same time, the world is changing rapidly. Digital technologies, particularly virtual reality, are opening up new possibilities for therapy, education, and cultural practices. VR allows us to create safe, immersive spaces where people can immerse themselves in a different experience, feel calm, explore their own emotions, and gradually restore their psychological resilience. It is at the intersection of these ideas—art, psychology, culture, and technology—that ART4MENTAL was born.
We created this project to bring together artists, psychologists, therapists, universities, cultural institutions, and tech organizations around a common goal: to develop new tools to support mental health. Not as a replacement for traditional therapy, but as a complement to it. Not as an abstract innovation, but as a practical tool that can work with real people in real spaces—rehabilitation centers, museums, galleries, educational programs, and cultural hubs.
Within the framework of ART4MENTAL, artists will create VR art-therapeutic scenarios and videos. These works will combine artistic vision, psychological sensitivity, and technological capabilities. They will become a new format of experience—one that helps not just to look at art, but to immerse oneself in it, interact with it, and through this, better hear one’s own inner voice.
It is particularly important to us that the project is aimed at those who need support the most today: young people, internally displaced persons, people with psychological trauma, and women from vulnerable groups. But at the same time, ART4MENTAL also works with those who help others: artists, psychologists, therapists, teachers, and cultural managers. After all, to create high-quality support tools, we need to develop new interdisciplinary expertise.
We believe in a future where caring for mental health becomes a natural part of society—just as important as physical health, education, or safety. A future where people aren’t afraid to talk about their emotions, seek support, and explore new ways to heal. And it is culture, art, and technology that can become an important part of this transformation.
For us, ART4MENTAL is not just about creating VR videos or conducting art therapy sessions. It’s about building a new ecosystem where artists, psychologists, educators, tech teams, and cultural institutions work together to create more human, modern, and accessible approaches to supporting mental health. We want innovations in this field to be not a distant future, but real tools available to people today. We dream of a world where art is not perceived merely as a form of creativity or leisure, but becomes a space for healing, dialogue, and inner strength. And if the combination of VR, culture, and therapy helps even one person feel peace, hope, or a connection with themselves again—then ART4MENTAL is already creating the change for which this project was launched.
A future in which art doesn’t just inspire, but helps people heal. A future in which VR technologies do not distance people from reality but create a safe path to themselves. A future in which culture becomes part of caring for mental health. And a future in which healing can begin with an image, a color, a sound, a movement—with a small experience that gradually restores a person’s sense of life.ART4MENTAL is a space where art, technology, and therapy work together for the benefit of people.
